CSA 2013!

We decided to do another full share of a CSA this year!  Check out the pictures from last year here and here.  We decided to go with Red Manse Farm again, for the same reasons we did last year.

Deciding between a full and half share was tough.  We were a little hesitant because processing the veggies and coming up with meals to use them up takes time, and my summers already feel far more full than I like.  After 25 years of summertime freedom, I'm still not used to being cooped up 8 hours a day all summer.  Plus my awesome husband is coaching soccer two nights a week....  And this summer we are maybe, possibly, trying to buy a house, which means we want to spend less time and money on other things.  

Still the goods outweigh the time issues, and we loved having so many extra potatoes, garlic, and frozen onions after the CSA ended, some lasting well into winter (actually we just finished off the garlic last week).  Hopefully we'll be better equipped to handle some of the more unusual vegetables the second time around.

Here's the 2013 documentation of our haul, this time entered as the summer goes by!  (Feel free to correct me if I identify any veggies incorrectly)

 Week 1 - Maple Syrup, Baby Bok Choy (x2), Lettuce, Romaine Lettuce, Rhubarb, green onions, radishes & turnips.

Week 2 - Beets, Red-Leaf Lettuce, Bok Choy, Garlic scapes (x2), Kale & Rhubarb


 Week 4 - Collard Greens, Red Lettuce, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Cilantro, Beets, Snap Peas, Green Onions

 Week  6 - Curly Kale, Herbs, Potatoes, Zucchini, Eggplant, Green Onions, Romain Lettuce, Red Lettuce, Carrots, Rainbow Chard

 Week 7 - Herbs, Green Onions, Beets, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Tomatoes, Carrots, Turnips, Kale, Boston Bib Lettuce, Green Beans

 Week 8 -  Corn, Rainbow Chard, Curly Kale, Herbs, Beets, Green Beans, Bell Pepper, Turnip, Garlic, Potatoes, Tomatoes

 Week 9 -  Parsley, Green Beans, Hot Pepper, Broccoli, Corn, Squash, Green Onions, Carrots, Tomatoes, Beets

 Week 10 -  Potatoes, kale, Broccoli, Garlic, Red Cabbage, Carrots, Basil, Tomatoes

 Week 11 -  Cabbage, Cantaloupes, Hot Peppers, Brussels Sprouts, Tomatoes, Kohlrabi, Beets, Baby Celery, Eggplant

 Week 12 - Rainbow Chard, Cantaloupe, Tomatoes, Carrots, Shitake Mushrooms, Radishes, Red Cabbage
